Ernest P. Worrell

Ernest P. Worrell, a fictional character originally created for regional television commercials by Jim Varney and the Nashville advertising agency Carden and Cherry in 1980, later starred in a series of feature films. Known for his Southern accent, denim vest, and baseball cap, Ernest is frequently depicted as a kindhearted yet somewhat dim-witted neighbor who often annoys Vern, his unseen counterpart, with his various antics and catchphrase "Know what I mean, Vern?
